Springfield faced Ponchatoula in the Jamboree on Friday. It was the first game action for the Bulldogs of the season and they struggled early on. Facing the much larger 5A program proved to be to much for the Bulldogs as they fell 41-7. Falling behind 41-0 in the first half, the Bulldogs did manage to come out in the second half and perform a lot better. The defense held Ponchatoula’s offense scoreless in the second half. Offensively, Damariae Claiborne connected with LJ Robertson for a 13 yard TD pass for their lone score of the night. Steven Johnson then connected for the extra point. The bulldogs open up the regular season next week when they will travel to take on Independence at 7pm.
